Kamakshi Devi Mandir - Karanja
ಆದಿ ಶಂಕರಾಚಾರ್ಯರ ಭೇಟಿ
- Located in Karanja, this sacred kshetra is revered as the birthplace of Sri Nrusimha Saraswati, vibrating with the subtle presence of Guru-tattva.
- In ancient times, the shrine of Kamakhya here is believed to have been worshipped in ways that reflected a more intense, tamasic expression of devotion. When Adi Shankaracharya arrived (tradition says from Adaas), he did not merely reform practices outwardly, but awakened the inner understanding of Dharma. Through shastric debates and compassionate guidance, he gently transformed the kshetra—redirecting devotion towards a purer, sattvic upasana of the Divine Mother. As a mark of protection and strength, he consecrated an Anjaneya vigraha, establishing dharma and stability in the region.
- It is said that this very transformation sanctified the kshetra so deeply that it became worthy of divine descent—thus, by the will of Dattatreya, the sacred presence later manifested here as Sripada Srivallabha, blessing the land and its people.
