Renukadevi Mandir - Mahurgad
आदि शंकराचार्य का यहाँ आगमन
- The Renukadevi Mandir at Mahur is traditionally regarded as one of the important Shakti Peethas of Maharashtra, the temple rising majestically atop a hill surrounded by dense forested landscapes that lend the kshetra both spiritual depth and natural sanctity.
- The Temple Authorities believe that Adi Shankaracharya visited this sacred shrine during his travels across Bharat. Shastraic references and traditional accounts indicate that the transformation of the deity’s Ugra (fierce) swaroopa into a more Shantha (serene) form is attributed to the Acharya’s visit and his prayers offered here.
- Within the temple complex, in the आग्नेय दिशा (south-eastern direction) along the side of the compound, a Paduka is worshipped as that of a holy saint. Devotees offer Sindhoor and flowers in reverence, and the guidance of the Shastras leads to the belief that this Paduka is that of Adi Shankaracharya himself.
- Tradition further recalls that Adi Shankaracharya stayed at this sacred place for a day, offering prayers and sanctifying the kshetra through his presence.
