Shri Omkareshwar Vishnu Bhagwan Temple - Shuklatirth

Adi Shankaracharya's Visit

Śukla Tīrtha, located near Bharuch on the sacred banks of the Narmadā, is an ancient and revered kṣetra centered around the worship of Śukleśvara Mahādeva, and is traditionally associated with the confluence of Rudra and Viṣṇu (Hari–Hara aikya). The site is further sanctified in regional tradition by the visit and blessings of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya, reinforcing its enduring spiritual significance within the Narmadā tīrtha landscape.

The above findings are based on local recitations and living traditions, as well as inscriptions and markers observed at the site, supported by available historical references, certain scientific observations, and guidance from the Shastras. As our understanding continues to evolve, we will update this account from time to time as additional insights and information emerge from local communities and further study.
