- This sacred kṣetra at Khimsar preserves an ancient Śiva Temple centered around an Īśwara Liṅga worshipped with deep reverence within the local traditions of the region. Alongside the Liṅga are Vigrahas of Nandi and Devi, which appear to belong to a later period of restoration or re-establishment within the temple complex. Traditions associated with the kṣetra affirm that Adi Shankaracharya performed the pratiṣṭhā of the Īśwara Liṅga during the course of his Yatra through the region, sanctifying the temple as a center of Śiva upāsana and spiritual continuity.
- Adjacent to the temple lies a serene lake and a sacred Khejadi tree, preserved in local memory as the very spot where Adi Shankaracharya is believed to have stayed and undertaken contemplation beneath its shade. The quiet natural surroundings, the sacred waters, and the enduring presence of the temple together continue to preserve the atmosphere of tapas and spiritual stillness associated with the kṣetra.
The above findings are based on local recitations and living traditions, as well as inscriptions and markers observed at the site, supported by available historical references, certain scientific observations, and guidance from the Shastras.
