  • Bhediya Bet Hanuman, located near the India–Pakistan border in the Rann of Kutch, is a deeply revered shrine popularly known as “Ghanti Wale Hanuman”, as devotees offer bells upon the fulfilment of their prayers.
  • The temple, simple in structure yet powerful in presence, is especially associated with the devotion of BSF jawans who continue to worship Hanuman here, and with countless bells adorning the परिसर as living testimonies of faith and grace.
  • Local tradition traces the origin of the present temple to the period following the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965, when Indian soldiers, returning from across the border, are said to have discovered an idol of Hanuman.
  • It is believed that the Lord appeared to them in a vision, instructing them to bring the murti along, after which it was installed at Bhediya Bet. Following the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, the murti was formally shifted from near a Pakistani border post at Jat Talai Chowki to its present location in the Rann.
  • Tradition further holds that the original shrine across the border, from where the murti was brought, had been consecrated by Adi Shankaracharya after his visit to the Dattatreya Temple at Kalo Dungar.
  • It is believed that the Acharya had established the shrine and infused it with divine Shakti through his worship, an understanding preserved through local recitations and Shastric references. Today, Bhediya Bet stands not only as a border shrine of protection and devotion, but as a continuation of that sacred lineage, where faith, history, and living tradition converge.

The above findings are based on local recitations and living traditions, as well as inscriptions and markers observed at the site, supported by available historical references, certain scientific observations, and guidance from the Shastras. As our understanding continues to evolve, we will update this account from time to time as additional insights and information emerge from local communities and further study.
